As an authority in Cosmetic Surgery of the Breast and Body, expert Dr. Casas is quoted in Allure magazines Complete Guide to the Mommy Makeover

Many women just want their bodies back after pregnancy and nursing. This process always starts with developing a healthy nutritional and exercise plan to restore your core muscle tone and strength.

Definition of a Mommy Makeover

According to Collins dictionary mommy makeover is defined as a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to reverse physical changes in a woman after childbirth. In Dr. Casas’s practice, a Mommy Makeover is a term that describes the process that women undergo to restore their pre-pregnancy body shape.

What to Expect at your Consultation with Dr. Casas

Dr. Laurie Casas can help you understand that it is only when you use a combination of building back your core muscle tone and strength, adopting a healthy nutritional and supplement plan and then possibly using non-surgical and surgical procedures that you can effectively reverse the changes to your breasts and body after pregnancy and lactation. Together, Dr. Casas will help you decide the best approach to restoring your body.

Options for a Mommy Makeover

Often times small collections of unwanted fat can be frozen with Coolsculpting. Because there are excellent noninvasive sculpting devices, many women start their journey by sculpting their arms, back, hip areas, outer and inner thighs with Coolsculpting, which is very effective for exercise, and diet resistant fat deposits that appeared after pregnancy. Other patients may also require some skin tightening with sculpting. Dr. Casas will then discuss the option of treating those areas with a laser treatment like Smart Lipo. Dr. Casas can perform procedures to restore your breast shape and size and your tummy shape individually or in combination. Dr. Casas will discuss the typical mommy makeover breast and tummy procedures like breast reduction or breast lift with or without breast implants, body contouring and sculpting with or without minimal to full Tummy tuck. When a patient has nursed sometimes their breasts may look deflated or saggy with lost volume. Dr. Casas will discuss options like breast lifts with or without breast implants. Dr. Casas will always first stress the need for a healthy nutritional and exercise plan. From her 30 years of experience in helping women restore their tummy shape, Dr. Casas will report that many women can regain their core strength without the need for surgical intervention. In her practice tummy tucks typically only treat the extra tummy skin that hangs or feels loose. Lastly, some women are also concerned about the distortion of their labia following natural childbirth.

Labiaplasty can sometimes be the answer.

What To Tell Your Kids About Your Plastic Surgery?

Mommy Makeover Results

As one of the national spokeswomen for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) and past president of the Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation (ASERF) Dr. Laurie Casas has been quoted on the topic of Mommy Makeover Procedures.

In New Beauty magazine Dr. Laurie Casas provided her expertise in an article about breast enhancement surgery after pregnancy. Pregnancy and lactation cause breast changes leading to smaller, more saggy breasts. Dr. Casas was quoted as saying that “Women are emotionally traumatized when a beautiful event like pregnancy and lactation adversely affects their breasts” Dr. Casas reported that many new moms undergo breast augmentation in addition to a breast lift to restore their breast size, fullness and firmness.

In a Fox news report, Dr. Casas dispelled the myth that “A ‘Mommy Makeover’ = Improved Sex Life?” She was quoted saying “I would never say, ‘Have your breasts enlarged or have a tummy tuck so you can have a better sex life”, however she adds, if someone said, ‘Doctor, I feel so bad about my tummy after having three kids, I am embarrassed to have sex with my husband’ Dr. Casas will discuss that a body-contouring procedure may help them feel better about their body and can give them the confidence to feel good about themselves in an intimate setting, She added that “Patients say, ‘I am so proud of my body. And my husband and I have so much more fun.'” Two prospective studies support this observation. These studies have been published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal (ASJ) and were authored by Dr. Sarwar, Dr. Laurie Casas and other Plastic Surgeons and documented that “patients reported improvements in their overall appearance and body image, the appearance of and their degree of dissatisfaction with the feature altered by surgery, and the frequency of negative body image emotions in specific social situations through 24 months after surgery. These improvements were first evident at 3 months postoperatively and were maintained, without deterioration, through 2 years following surgery.”

In an MSNBC article, Dr. Laurie Casas answers the question: How to battle the post-baby bulge?, She champions the utility of diet and exercise but admits that, “Factors beyond a woman’s control, such as skin elasticity, also come into play. Some women’s skin simply stretches better during pregnancy than others…. That’s why many women get stretch marks, and the lucky others don’t.” Women who develop stretch marks and skin laxity and excess often choose to undergo a tummy tuck procedure to definitively restore their pre-pregnancy tummy.

The Benefits of a Mommy Makeover Surgery

Women’s bodies undergo a series of changes during and after pregnancy; on many occasions, these adjustments can be permanent. Thanks to a wide range of surgical solutions, women no longer have to accept all the drastic changes their bodies undergo from pregnancy.

Dr. Casas. A female Plastic Surgeon, has the expertise, experidnce and track record to show that she offers the best mommy makeover Chicago has available.

Women can benefit from many different solutions, some of which include breast lift, augmentation, reductions, tummy tuck, liposuction, Labiaplasy and more. Some mommy makeover procedures are more invasive than others, but Dr. Casas will provide everything you need to know to feel comfortable about moving forward with the surgery.

Considering that childbearing affects the breasts and abdomen areas the most, many patients and surgeons agree that this is where most women start with a mommy makeover surgery. Throughout pregnancy and the time spent during breastfeeding, breasts undergo many changes in size and shape.

Once the breastfeeding phase is over, it’s common for breasts to take on a new shape and volume they didn’t have beforehand. A similar process happens with the abdomen, as it expands and stretches skin and tissue significantly and could lead to substantial sagging and various stretch marks. Techniques such as abdominoplasty are pretty common for this area of the body, and they can be very effective at achieving the shape and look you had before pregnancy. Due to the various techniques and unique approaches required for every patient, this can also significantly affect the cost of mommy makeover surgeries.

The Cost of a Mommy Makeover

With all of the intricate aspects that go into the procedure, Dr. Casas has a thorough understanding of the patient’s concerns regarding the cost. Thankfully, this can all be discussed in full during the consultation, and although final costs may slightly vary due to the requirements of the procedure, she’ll be able to give you a close figure that you can expect.

Although costs can vary significantly depending on each patient’s needs, an average industry standard is known to be a little over $12,000. Then again, your particular procedure could range anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000. Dr. Casas understands this is substantial for many people, and she always does her best to work with each patient’s budgetary concerns so they can get the results they’re looking for.

Unfortunately, since it’s a cosmetic procedure, mommy makeovers aren’t covered by insurance, making it an out-of-pocket operation. However, Dr. Casas helps shape the needs of your surgery around your expected budget. If you’re seeking additional information on this topic, don’t hesitate to call Dr. Casas and her team at 847-657-6884.
