Question:
What causes saggy breasts and will breast feeding increase my chances of sagginess? If a breast lift is deemed necessary will my cup size change? What is typical recovery time for a breast lift?
Answer:
There are two main factors that cause breasts to sage; one being changes in breast size and the other is poor skin elasticity! Changes in breast size most often occurs when you lose weight or during the pregnancy and nursing period. Keep in mind that deciding to breast feed will also increase your chance for sagginess, more so if you have poor skin elasticity.
If you have saggy breasts and decide that a breast lift is for you, great! But be forewarned that it can not be guaranteed that you will have the same cup size after a breast lift. If a lot of skin is removed due to the sagging there is a chance of having a smaller cup size. Only a one on one consultation will help you know what to realistically expect.
As for recovery time; typically a breast lift would require 2-3 days off of work. Additionally you must keep your arms and chest at rest from upper body activity for 6 weeks to allow scars to start the healing process!

Dr. Laurie Casas is quoted in an article posted in the March 2008 issue of Health Magazine. The article, Plastic Surgery by the Decade, covers 3 different age brackets of women who get breast enhancement procedures.
35 to 50 year old women account for more than half of all cosmetic breast procedures. Dr. Casas accounts for this saying,
“Most women want to get rid of the sagging due to the combined effects of gravity and years of having babies”

Question:
What are the different types of implants available and which are the most natural looking?
Answer:
There are two types of implants: Saline Implants and Silicone. Both implants are available in a number of variations to best fit what your looking for.
Saline and Silicone Implants alterations:
- Width: Figure out exactly what width correlates to desired cleavage
- Volume: Pin-point which cup size would suite you
- Projection: How much will stick out from your chest

Deciding which implant would be the most natural looking depends on your body type. The characteristics of your chest muscles and ribs, along with breasts, height and weight are key factors for determining which implant/size would best pass for “natural”.
The key is that you spend enough time with your plastic surgeon discussing options and figuring out exactly what you want. It is common for people to find they are unhappy with the size of the implants with in the first 2 years which often leads to additional “revision” surgery. So to avoid revisions and with so many options available the most important step in the process is discussing what is best for you with your surgeon.
