Female Breast Augmentation Revision (Chicago-land Area)

Any patient who has undergone female breast augmentation surgery can expect to have a second surgery (revision) at some point because breast implants, like all medical devices, require maintenance. Breast implants that are either filled with saline or silicone gel are not lifetime devices. When a patient perceives there is a problem with the implant a thorough consultation is necessary to review the options for the desired change. When a saline implant deflates the patient typically will desire replacement for the same or different size or style of implant. There are many choices for patients to make in terms of size (volume), projection (profile), width (cleavage) and filler (saline vs. silicone). All of these options will need to be reviewed during an in depth consultation that will review your expectations. Dr. Casas will help you decide whether revision surgery makes sense. Capsular contracture is the tightening of the normal scar tissue that forms around the breast implant. This can make the breast feel firm and can distort the breast shape. Dr. Casas will review whether treating this with reoperation to remove the scar tissue and replace the implant is appropriate for your expectations. (To see before and after photos click here)
