Question:
If I want to look my best for my wedding, (I am in my mid 30’s) who should I consult?
Answer:
First you should consult with someone like me, a Board certified Plastic Surgeon who will honestly review your options for helping to make your dreams become a reality. Brides want to look their best for many reasons. It is a very special day and most brides are photographed quite a bit. I always recommend a good skincare program but especially before the wedding, it is a good idea to ‘step it up’ with professional exfoliation like a Blue Peel or a Hydrafacial and for a woman in her mid 30’s step it up with a few units of a Neurotoxin (like Botox or Dysport ) or a thin filler to ease worry or smile lines that can make someone look sad or angry. If your jaw line is not as defined as it used to be, Liposuction of the Neck is an outpatient procedure that can have you back to work in 3 days with no telltale scars but can make a dramatic improvement in your profile, and a big difference in photographs.
In addition, some brides may want to consider Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift or Breast Reduction Surgery so that they can pick the dress of their dreams! This is very do-able. Other brides may want to wear their hair in an up-do hairstyle and want to finally address their prominent ears that have forced them to wear their hair down. Otoplasty (ear pinning) can definitely help a Bride address this issue.
Sometimes a little liposuction to diet and resistant fat pockets can make the difference in the wedding gown you choose. Click here for additional liposuction info and photos.
Ideally, 6 months before the wedding is the best time to see me. There are many options that although are very subtle and natural can make a dramatic difference.
We welcome you, your bridal party and of course, the mother of the bride and future mother-in-law! We would be honored to assist you!

Question:
After lipo do you need a tummy tuck? Is there alot of skin left hanging?
Answer:
You may or may not need both. It depends on an individuals skin elasticity. When a patient has rapid weight gains or losses (pregnancy for example) sometimes the skin does not bounce back. The patient can pull it away and it sags. So these patients, regardless of their age, need skin resection when that body part is addressed. Evaluating a persons skin elasticity is a key element for all body contouring procedures. The best way to evaluate that is to come in for a consultation. During consultation I can tell whether liposuction alone will be effective in removing unwanted fat and whether your skin has the ability to shrink naturally.
It’s important to note that Liposuction alone will only remove the unwanted fat! Lipo does not tighten the skin. However, the fat will not come back if a patient maintains their weight and continues to keep their muscles toned.
Patients often ask about devices which are marketed as ’skin tightening devices’, the truth of the matter is that there is no device that consistently tightens skin. If skin tightening is your goal then Smart Lipo, the laser from Cutera called Tighten & Tummy tucks (ie removal of tummy skin) are required when your skin has lost its elasticity.
I tell my patients to stay tuned for devices that will work to tighten skin and decrease cellulite, I will try to keep patients as well informed as possible. Question
I have lost 65 pounds and now look like a melting candle. What options do I have for my sagging arms, stomach, thighs?
Answer
Congratulations on the weight loss! I understand the need to alter the “melting candle” look resulting from this dramatic drop in weight. To achieve your desired image we might be looking at a couple of different procedures. Typically if you have poor elasticity and extra skin, surgical excision is needed. You may need bracelets, abdominoplasty and thigh lift.
An abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) procedure will remove excess skin/fat from the abdomen area. During an initial consultation we’ll examine your upper, middle and lower abdomen region and review whether you also need liposuction, muscle tightening or relocation of your belly button. Read more here.
The Thigh Lift procedure can help reinstate shape to sagging thighs. This procedure leads to an overall improved appearance and comfort in the thigh area. Read more here.
