Dr. Casas in Fox News Chicago

Dr. Casas was asked to be the voice of reason regarding a procedure called “nonsurgical nose job” on Fox news Chicago last Friday. “It is an excellent tool to help patients temporarily see how their nose can look when it is smoothed out by adding a filler. This “off label” use of a filler can temporarily change the appearance of the nose”

Dr. Casas would like to emphasize “Non-surgical” nose reshaping can only temporarily alter features of your nose. It does this by adding a filler like Restylane to smooth out divits or to add to parts of the nose that will give it the appearance of being straighter or smoother. This use of a filler is “off label” which means although the FDA has approved it for use in the face to smooth out lines around the mouth it has not been approved for use in the nose. By contrast, Rhinoplasty, surgical nose reshaping, provides a permanent change to the nose by surgically altering it to make it smaller, larger, more shapely, defining the tip, or straightening the bridge.
