Dr. Laurie Casas quoted in Lifetime TV
Dr. Laurie Casas is quoted in a Lifetime TV article concerning breast reconstruction following mastectomy due to breast cancer. The article discusses women’s options following a breast cancer diagnosis. Dr. Casas promotes a skin-sparing mastectomy. This technique leaves a pouch of skin on the chest after the underlying cancerous tissue is removed, decreasing the amount of stretch needed of the chest skin if the woman decides to undergo breast reconstructive surgery. In the interim between skin-sparing mastectomy and breast reconstruction,
“Your chest may look a bit prunelike, but you’ll have the option of reconstruction later.”
