Dr. Laurie A. Casas

Laurie A. Casas is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery Division of Plastic Surgery University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine who is committed to excellence in Cosmetic Surgery. Named one of the top plastic surgeons in Chicago for many years since 1992, she has a multi-specialty cosmetic surgical and non-surgical practice. Her advanced training in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and body and commitment to achieving the most beautiful results possible for her patients has earned her a reputation as a “perfectionist.” As an academic cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Casas has treated patients from all over the world, each of whom has individual desires and needs.

One of the hallmarks of Dr. Casas’ approach is in considering the individual – their facial features, body structure, profession, lifestyle, age and their definition of beauty. She combines the patients’ desires to have a more youthful appearance with her extensive experience to develop a strategic plan to achieve their goals. Because each person is unique, her approach instills confidence.

As a national spokesperson on aesthetic plastic surgery, Dr. Casas is frequently quoted by a wide array of publications, including the New York Times, the LA Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, Allure, Marie Claire, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Self, Seventeen, and the Chicago Tribune. She has appeared on national as well as local news programs, including CNN, CNBC, Fox News New York, Fox News Chicago, and NBC News Chicago to name a few. The New York Times (October 2005) named Dr. Casas one of four top plastic surgeons in the country for breast implants.

Dr. Casas graduated from Northwestern University Medical School and completed both General and Plastic Surgery training at Northwestern University in Chicago. To satisfy her desire to attain the highest level of achievement in cosmetic surgery training and clinical experience, she completed three fellowships at New York University in Cosmetic Surgery of the Face and Body, at St. Joseph Hospital-Emory University in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Breast, and at Southern Illinois University in microsurgery of the hand. She sits on the Board of Directors for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation (PSEF) and is a National Spokesperson for both ASAPS and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). As an Associate Professor of Surgery she has lectured all over the world. She serves as one of the Editors of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, has coauthored a textbook on Aesthetic Breast Surgery, has authored many peer reviewed journal articles, and is deeply involved in ongoing research to advance the field of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Casas believes that for most people, there is either a surgical or a non-surgical solution to their aesthetic “problem” which often involves the desire to look elegant at every age. Her goal is to help each individual reach his or her own goal of managing the aging process.

Maureen Spahr, R.N.

Maureen Spahr, R.N. is an outstanding Nurse Injector and is laser certified. Dr. Casas has worked closely with Maureen since 2005 and is proud to have her as an integral part of Casas Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Maureen has been an R.N. for over 25 years after receiving her nursing degree from Joseph School of Nursing at Mitchell College in Connecticut. While in Connecticut, Maureen was very successful and quickly became the supervisor for a medical surgical unit at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, Connecticut.

In 1995, Maureen and her family moved to Illinois where she initially practiced as a family medicine nurse until 2005. From 2005 until 2010, Maureen worked with Dr. Casas at Turn Back Time Medispa in Highland Park where she developed her skills as a Nurse Injector. Maureen believes that a healthy lifestyle is critical; in addition, she believes that helping individuals feel and look their best is extremely important. She holds numerous certificates in aesthetic medicine techniques including laser therapy, Botox™, Dysport™ and soft tissue fillers ( Radiesse™, Restylane™, Juvederm™ and Perlane™). Maureen also teaches and lectures on the finer points of injecting.

Always striving to do her best, Maureen continues to challenge herself in the field of aesthetic medicine by continuing to learn about the latest technology and procedures. With five strong years’ of aesthetic medicine experience, she is considered by many to be top-notch in her field. As an integral member of Casas Aesthetic Plastic Surgery & Medispa, Maureen offers our patients the safest and most effective techniques in injectable soft tissue fillers of the face & laser technology.
