Question: If I want to look my best for my wedding, (I am in my mid 30’s) who should I consult?
Answer: First you should consult with someone like me, a Board certified Plastic Surgeon who will honestly review your options for helping to make your dreams become a reality. Brides want to look their best for many reasons. It is a very special day and most brides are photographed quite a bit. I always recommend a good skincare program but especially before the wedding, it is a good idea to ‘step it up’ with professional exfoliation like a Blue Peel […]
Question: Is it true that Silicone breast implants are safe?
Answer: The short answer is yes. Silicone breast implants that are FDA approved since the lifting of the moratorium in 2006 are safe. The real issue is whether you are a good candidate for breast enlargement with either saline or silicone gel breast implants. Typically women who are in good health and who have either not had breast development (congenital Micromastia) or had normal breasts but saw them disappear after pregnancy or lactation or weight loss are excellent candidates for considering breast augmentation. The key is to come in to see […]
A panel of experts, including Laurie A. Casas, MD, explored the topic of breast asymmetry in relation to breast augmentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Discussed were the spectrum of problems as well as advice on surgical considerations.
“The key to a high patient satisfaction rate is to fully inform the patient that this kind of augmentation is extremely challenging, but that using a detailed analytic approach, we can achieve a very aesthetically pleasing outcome within the limits set by their preoperative anatomic characteristics,” said Dr. Casas.

The FDA convened a panel to study the long term results of Silicone breast implants in Gaithesburg, Virginia on August 30 and 31st. The FDA published a white paper in June 2011 stating that silicone breast implants are safe.
Laurie Casas, MD, a past-president of ASERF, testified before the FDA: “We strongly believe that a woman’s right to choose breast implants is paralleled by her right to be fully informed of both the risks and the benefits of breast implant surgery.”

Question: I have been thinking of breast implants for years and am finally ready to commit! I would like to be a 34C or D (am now a 34B). I also think I am uneven and one breast sags a little more than the other. Will breast implants also ‘lift’ my breasts and even them out?
Answer: It is quite common in women that sagging occurs as we age and it is not always symmetrical. What I can do is perform a regular Breast Augmentation using 2 different sized implants (one positioned slightly higher)…or we can do a one-sided (unilateral) Breast […]
Question: I just saw a report about the PIP silicone breast implants from France. Are those implants here in the US, and are they the same ones that Dr. Casas may have used on me?
Answer: French Investigators found that the (now defunct) company called Poly Implant Protheses (PIP) were using inferior quality silicone, not medical–grade quality, and that more than 1,000 women in France have had one or two implants break.
Dr. Casas has never used PIP products. PIP saline and silicone were actually taken off the US market years ago and have not been available. Dr. Casas is well aware […]
Question: I’m 25 and considering a Mastopexy after losing a significant amount of weight, can I do it without implants? I’m 5′3 and my bra size is currently 36DD. I’m down to 130 lbs but formerly I weighed 200lbs at my heaviest. I’ve become very self-conscious about the stretch marks and sagging. I’d very much like to have my breasts lifted without implants but from what I’ve read, I’m not sure if that is advisable. Do you advise having this procedure?
Answer: A Mastopexy (Breast Lift) surgery can be done if you are happy with your breast size but are unhappy […]
Question: I would love to know if there is any type of surgery that can reduce the size of my breasts without submitting to a full breast reduction! I am not considered a candidate by my Insurance Company for the Breast Reduction surgery but it is something that has been an issue for me personally. As an athlete, I am constantly binding them down (wear 2 heavy sport bras!) and would love to go down 1 size. I am medium build.
Answer: Depending on the density of your breasts (which may be evaluated during a consultation) you may be a perfect […]
Question: Will liposuction of the neck give me a nice tight looking neck or do I need a neck lift?
Answer: To get a great result with liposuction of the neck without a true open neck lift you must be a good candidate for the procedure. If your neck has fatty deposits between the skin and the muscles and your overlying skin has good to excellent elasticity, properly performed minimally invasive liposuction of the neck will give you a smooth tight neck with youthful contours, without cutting skin and tightening muscles. Patients of all ages with good to excellent skin elasticity […]
Question: What does a typical abdominoplasty consultation entail?
Answer: A comprehensive consultation will start with you detailing your medical and surgical history. After a thorough exam and discussion of the procedures that are available we will together decide what operation is the safest and will meet your expectations. During this consultation I will discuss the risks and benefits and alternatives of all the safe procedures that are available. I believe that patients need to prepare for a tummy tuck by maintaining a healthy lifestyle which includes regular exercise, healthy eating, regular sleep and a stable weight that you are happy with.
