Dr. Casas, clinical associate professor of surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzer School of Medicine is quoted in Endless Beauty discussing “The Breast Ideas Post-Baby”.
“If a person nurses five to nine times a day, their breasts get larger, then deflate after each session,” says Dr. Laurie A. Casas. “This enlarging and shrinking takes a toll on skin elasticity.”

Question: In recent photographs, I noticed that it looks like I have a double chin or excess skin under my neck. I’m only 37! Am I ready for a Facelift/Necklift? Is there anything I can do to eliminate the turkey neck look?
Answer: Yes. There is a relatively simple, outpatient minimally invasive surgical procedure called Liposuction of the Neck. It is perfect for people whose skin elasticity is still intact yet you have a little sagging along and under the chin area and are not quite ready for a Necklift. I have performed hundreds of these procedures on men and women […]
Question: Is it true that Silicone breast implants are safe?
Answer: The short answer is yes. Silicone breast implants that are FDA approved since the lifting of the moratorium in 2006 are safe. The real issue is whether you are a good candidate for breast enlargement with either saline or silicone gel breast implants. Typically women who are in good health and who have either not had breast development (congenital Micromastia) or had normal breasts but saw them disappear after pregnancy or lactation or weight loss are excellent candidates for considering breast augmentation. The key is to come in to see […]
Question:
What do I do about the uneven pigmentation around my face and décolletage? Is there anything that can also be done about my hands and my large pores?
Answer:
The VI peel is a light to moderate peel that utilizes a blend of TCA, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, Retinoic acid, Vitamins, and microelements to help rejuvenate your skin.
The VI peel is an effective way to eliminate hyper pigmentation, reduce fine lines, shrink pores, and give your skin a youthful glow. It can be used for large areas such as the face, neck, chest, and hands OR can be used to treat specific brown […]
Question: I’d love to consider doing a few cosmetic “improvements” before the holidays but don’t have much time to commit to a long recovery. I’m wondering if there are outpatient procedures that don’t require extensive recoveries and expenses. What do you recommend for somebody who would like to look refreshed and at her best for the holiday season??
Answer: The holidays are filled with friends, photos, parties…why not do something for yourself that helps you look your best?
I always like to provide options as I believe people have different needs, desires and budgets. There truly is something for everyone and we […]
Question: Are the results from a breast lift permanent?
Answer: Nothing on our body that we are born with or have had altered by cosmetic surgery is “permanent”. Our breast size can change as our weight and hormone levels change during our lives. In addition, many patients who desire a breast lift have poor skin elasticity and loss of breast volume due to fluctuations in their weight and/or following breast feeding.
Certain aspects of a breast lift, like the position of the nipple typically does not change but the lower half of the breast can “bottom out” over time. Patients who have […]
CNN Health quotes Dr. Laurie Casas in a discussion regarding the injury President Obama suffered Friday: “Split lip an injury known to many”.
“Dr. Laurie Casas, a clinical associate professor of surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzer School of Medicine, said that 12 stitches aren’t a lot, since each stitch can be as small as two to three millimeters.

Question: What Alternatives Are There to Liposuction?
Answer: No procedure has the safety and result profile that liposuction has, however, I believe that soon we will have safe chemicals that we will be able to inject that will dissolve small areas of diet and exercise resistant fat. Hopefully we will also have non invasive devices that will dissolve fat by heating it to higher temperatures that will reduce fat and also promote skin elasticity.

Question: What can I do about broken capillaries on my face?
Answer: I highly recommend considering laser treatment for facial veins and broken capillaries. The Palomar Laser offers an excellent solution to this common problem.
Using the principle of photothermolysis (light and heat), the treatment targets different areas of the skin which selectively absorbs the light energy as heat and yields the desired response. These damaged vessels blanch, and are then absorbed by the body within 10-14 days, effectively removing the appearance of the vessel from the skin.
Currently, there is no topical solution as effective as laser for the removal or reduction […]
