Question: I’m looking to try some chemical peels for my stretch marks before I consider other surgery options, what other treatments are there?
Answer: Great question! Unfortunately right now there is no reliably treatment for stretch marks. Some laser treatments can decrease the darker stretch marks; but for the whiter stretch marks there aren’t effective treatments.
Now if your stretch marks are in areas which lend themselves to be cut out, such as the lower abdominal area then a tummy tuck may be your best option!

There have always been a number of questions regarding the safety of Botox and possible side-effects. Now with the recent report released by the Journal of Neuroscience on April 2nd, which studied side effects of botulinum toxin (an active ingredient in botox) those questions are escalating. People are asking “Is Botox Safe?” “Will botox go into my brain?” or simply “What are side effects of Botox?” all of these are common questions and deserved to be addressed.
Lets start with a quick briefing on what Botox is. Botox is a neuro toxin that has been in use since the first in […]
Question:I had several surgeries for fibroid tumors, polyps and cysts resulting in a hysterectomy. I have an enormous abdomen (probably a lot of scar tissue too) now that I can’t get rid of. Should I pursue abdominoplasty or liposuction?
Answer: The best way to judge whether an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or liposuction is best for you would be by taking a look at your situation. Typically when your abdominal skin and subcutaneous tissue rolls over when you sit down, a tummy tuck is needed. When the abdomen has tight skin that bulges from fatty deposits which are diet and exercise resistant, […]
Question: I have a couple of questions! First how do I burn fat off my stomach? And secondly, is there any way to make my butt bigger without surgery?
Answer Great questions! Improving those two areas on your body are common concerns and can be done using both surgery and natural techniques! When dealing with fat on your stomach let me point out that we do not burn fat, we remove it. Removing fat from the adominal region can be done by doing liposuction or laser followed by liposuction, which is also known as Smartlipo. To learn more about liposuction services […]
Dr. Casas is quoted in a WebMD Feature discussing “How Will Breast Implants Change Your Life?” This feature discusses the life changing effects of breast implants, realistic surgical expectations and different reasons patients seek-out breast procedures.
“They truly feel they have a deformity,” Casas tells WebMD. “They don’t feel they have a normal body part. It’s a body image issue, not a self-esteem issue. They want that body part to look more normal, to look better in clothes and bathing suits.”
The journey potential patients undertake with this surgery can be a painful and emotional one. Doctors are often pre-screening their patients […]
QuestionI had a “lip lift” also known as “upper and lower lip advancement” 2 years ago. To be more specific on what I had: A lip lift is performed to shorten the long lip of aging, allowing the upper teeth to show slightly when the lips are slightly parted. It turns up the upper lip creating a fuller appearance. A wavy ellipse of skin under the nose-lip junction is removed (average 5-7 mm). It involves an incision along the border of the upper lip. Once the incision is made the doctor removes a tiny strip of skin where the upper […]
NewImage.com quotes Dr. Laurie Casas in a discussion regarding “Are you too old for plastic surgery?” According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, people over the age of 50 account for 31% of all plastic surgery procedures done in the United States. Therefore Dr. Casas ensures her patients have realistic expectations for procedures requested.
“Whether a patient’s reasons for having surgery are emotionally healthy or unhealthy can be obvious or subtle,” says aesthetic plastic surgeon Laurie Casas, MD, FACS, of Glenview, IL. She gives an example of good motivation. “I don’t have people coming in saying, ‘I want to […]
QuestionI have lost 65 pounds and now look like a melting candle. What options do I have for my sagging arms, stomach, thighs?
Answer Congratulations on the weight loss! I understand the need to alter the “melting candle” look resulting from this dramatic drop in weight. To achieve your desired image we might be looking at a couple of different procedures. Typically if you have poor elasticity and extra skin, surgical excision is needed. You may need bracelets, abdominoplasty and thigh lift.
An abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) procedure will remove excess skin/fat from the abdomen area. During an initial consultation we’ll examine your […]
Question I am interested in having a neck lift. Can you tell me about the procedure. I heard it is a procedure?
Answer Depending on your situation perhaps a facelift or neck lift would help you reach your goal of a “tighter” yet not ‘too tight’ fresh faced look. If you have good skin elasticity liposuction is often used to remove little fat deposits in the neck area. As a result of the procedure the skin contracts and shrinks; therefore this may the solution to achieve the results you seek.
