A body lift can restore the shape of the abdomen, back, buttock and outer thighs after significant weight loss. This procedure typically leads to major positive changes to your entire mid section and buttock area. At the initial consultation, Dr. Casas will examine your areas of concern, noting the skin elasticity and the amount and distribution of the excess skin. Often times this surgery will involve creating a buttock flap that will add contour to the area. This is done using your own tissue that many doctors will discard. This will help avoid the flat buttock result that is often seen after a lower body lift.
Whenever possible, Dr. Casas will conceal the scars within normal two piece bathing suit lines. Before surgery is scheduled, Dr.. Casas will work with you on a pre-surgery exercise routine that will be restarted in a modified format immediately after surgery to promote circulation. Typically patients return to work after 7-10 days and return to all activities by 6 weeks. Dr. Casas and her team will see you many times in the first 6 weeks to be sure you are recovering fully. Scar therapy is immediately after surgery and will continue for 1-2 years until all the scars have faded.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage, administered by massage, is used after each procedure to reduce swelling. The number of sessions is individualized.
