My skin seems to suffer more in the winter – what do you recommend for treating clogged pores and combination oily/very dry skin?

Answer: Skin is visibly affected by extremes in temperature and requires extra care, especially if you have combination or excessively dry skin. My recommendation is to start a good, guided skincare routine that is developed specifically for you. If you have dry skin, use a gentle cleanser, toner and daily moisturizer that will help you maintain a healthy radiant appearance. I advise my patients to use the Clarisonic Skincare system which is an excellent method of deep cleansing (without stripping the skin) at home. This system significantly helps exfoliate the outer layer of skin, which will prepare your skin for a balanced schedule of Retin-A 3x per week and Moisturizer (on the nights you are not using Retin-A).

At Casas Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we offer several cleansers and moisturizers which we help you select based on your skincare needs. The Clarisonic Skincare System is available for purchase in my Glenview location as well! Sonic cleansing makes a significant difference! It removes 6 times more makeup than manual cleaning but is still gentle enough for delicate and sensitive skin.

Make good skincare routine an important part of your life! The investment in time and energy are worth the results!
