Question: I tend to go braless a lot when wearing tank tops and camisoles, especially in the summer. Could this have long term negative effects on my breast shape? Do you have any advice for how to help prevent breast sagging or help prevent worsening of my sagging breasts?
Answer: If your breasts are not properly supported, your breast ligaments can over stretch, which can make your breasts droop or sag. If your breasts are not supported, gravity can help to make breasts, especially heavy/large ones, sag or droop. It is important even for small breasted women to wear proper fitting […]
The breast implants’ approval by the FDA was not fine-print free. Women must weigh the impact, and costs, of follow-up care.
By Melissa Healy, Times Staff Writer November 27, 2006
The days before Thanksgiving are typically quiet in the offices of plastic surgeons. But a long-awaited decision to approve silicone breast implants for women older than 22 prompted a flurry of excited calls and inquiries last week from prospective patients.
The giddy welcome may not last. Even as the two U.S. manufacturers of silicone implants gleefully projected a surge in demand for their products, physicians began poring over the fine print of […]
It’s safe to say that trends are shifting and injectable treatments are now “accepted” options for everyday women! The Aesthetic Surgery Education & Research Foundation (ASERF) released results from a recent survey illustrating just that fact.
“In a similar survey issued four years ago, we dispelled the myth that Hollywood and corporate wives were the typical BOTOX® Cosmetic patient,” says ASERF President Laurie Casas, MD, a plastic surgeon practicing in suburban Chicago. “Now, demographic and perception data trends show us that aesthetic injectable treatments have continued to evolve into mainstream and accepted options for the everyday woman.”
Here are some of the […]
Question: Are facial fillers safe and reliable, and how do I know which one is best for me?
Answer: Excellent question.
Yes, they are safe if performed by a qualified surgeon who has evaluated you in a safe environment such as a doctor’s office or medispa that is physician owned and operated.
Dr. Casas strongly urges her patients to ask the following questions when considering any injectable:
Is this a qualified physician/surgeon in an appropriately licensed facility, and does he or she administer these injectables regularly?
Is the injectable approved and recommended by the FDA? Make sure it is name brand only. There is no […]
There is nothing as effective as surgery to remove unwanted fat deposits that resist diet and exercise. Unfortunately, it can’t stop there. What makes the outcome ‘successful’ longterm is when a patient continues to maintain proper nutrition, daily exercise and adequate sleep. Maintaining one’s diet and workout routine along with surgery will definitely contribute to long-lasting results that all patients (and doctors) want!
What I do is work with my patients pre-surgically and post-surgically to try and identify healthy lifestyles that will help maintain their liposuction results.
These patterns could be
1. Eating the wrong foods (excess of foods that are high in […]
