Read about a patient experience with the Labiaplasty procedure.
Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure of the labia minora (the small lips on the outside of the vagina). This genital surgical procedure is done to reduce the size or reshape the labia minora to help relieve discomfort and for aesthetics.
Reasons for Labiaplasty
The two main reasons women pursue labiaplasty is for aesthetics or discomfort. The aesthetic side involves women who encounter unhappiness or embarrassment regarding the physical appearance of the labia minor. This can affect their sex life as well as their self esteem. On the discomfort side, some women find that exercise or tight clothing can make them feel uncomfortable. Sometimes even sex can be problematic. These irritations can become chronic.
The labiaplasty surgery itself takes about 1 to 2 hours with an additional hour spent in recovery room. Anesthesia is used and patients will be asleep for the procedure. Post Surgery a patient will normally experience discomfort for a few days. Pain killers and antibiotics are given to help with the recovery. Full healing typically happens in about 6 weeks and the sutures used do not need to be removed because they can be absorbed. We recommend at least four separate follow up visits to ensure the recovery is going well. There is no additional fee for any follow up visits. Our only concern is for you to have a complete recovery and that we meet your expectations.
Returning to Normal Life
• Most patients return to work two to four days after surgery.
• Exercise should be avoided for at least 4 weeks.
• Sexual activity should be avoided for 6 to 8 weeks, maybe longer.
