What Is Lip Enhancement?

Lip enhancement is a cosmetic procedure also known as lip augmentation. Dermal fillers are the most common approach to plumping the lips and getting rid of perioral lines. Fillers like Restylane Silk, Belotero, and Juvederm are popular because these are non-surgical options with virtually no downtime.

There are several dermal fillers in the market that are used to address cosmetic concerns around the lip region. Restylane is the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler for lip enhancement for adults 21 years or older. Juvederm has several types of fillers that can be used to reshape and rejuvenate your lips. Belotero is a prescription medicine for reducing the deep lines on your nasolabial folds.

Ideal Candidates for Lip Augmentation

If you start to notice the signs of aging around your lips, you are a good candidate for lip augmentation. Thinning lips, lines on the sides and around the lip area, and deep wrinkles along your laugh lines can be eliminated by dermal fillers. You must also have realistic aesthetic goals and a positive outlook when you undergo this cosmetic treatment.

Your Consultation

Your consultation will include a physical examination of your target areas by Dr. Laurie Casas. A discussion of your medical history will be done in order to check for risk factors. Inform Dr. Casas about any underlying conditions, current medications, and recent cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Casas can help you achieve your goal of natural lip enhancement with dermal fillers during a safe, effective office procedure using this reliable wrinkle reduction filler. Restylane is the only FDA approved hylaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler for lip enhancement. Together with Dr. Casas you will decide if your lip contour and size merely needs to be restored because of volume loss from aging or if your thin or disproportionately sized lips may benefit from natural wrinkle reduction and enhancement with Restylane. As always it is best to consult with Dr. Casas first before moving forward with any procedure.

The Procedure

Restylane Silk, Belotero, and Juvederm can be administered via injection to the lips. Injection sites will be marked prior to treatment. Some of these dermal fillers already have lidocaine in the mixture, so additional anesthetic may not be necessary. After the substance is applied to the lips, the markings will be removed.

Aftercare

The procedure is relatively quick and has no recovery period. Ice packs may be placed on the treated area to help alleviate discomfort and control swelling. Bruising, redness, and tenderness are common side effects that should go away after a few days.

Avoid applying pressure on the treated areas. Also, do not apply lipstick or makeup after the procedure. You can see the results right away, and your lips will feel natural after you are fully healed.

How Much Does Restylane Silk/Belotero/Juvederm for Lip Enhancement Cost?

The cost of lip enhancement injections can vary depending on several factors. The overall price will depend on the type of dermal filler used, the number of target areas treated, and the number of injections required.
