Sclerotherapy GlenviewQuestion: Is it possible to correct white scarring from Sclerotherapy?

Answer: For those who aren’t familiar with Sclerotherapy treatment, allow me to give you a quick explanation. Sclerotherapy is looked upon as the preferred procedure when it comes to eliminating spider veins. This procedure is typically successful for medium to large veins. Treatment involves injecting the veins with a solution which will cause them to shrink and dissolve within a matter of weeks. After treatment, patients can expect to be mobile and are free to resume their daily activities. Patients are also instructed to wear supportive hosiery and are encouraged to walk around to help the healing process. Hot baths, saunas or direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided for at least 48 hrs after treatment. Nothing too complicated right? Simple procedure for a common problem!

If for some reason, a patient has white scarring after this procedure, they should not worry. Typically the pigmentation comes back with exposure to the sun. Scarring from this procedure should not be permanent.
